Vector amplification for color-dependent image filtering

چکیده
In previous work the authors have studied the problem of color-dependent linear vector image filtering, particularly based on resolution of pixel vectors into color-space directions parallel to and perpendicular to the color-space direction of a chosen color of interest (COI). A significant problem with this approach has been the lack of directional resolution, and consequent lack of good color-specificity in the resulting filters. In this paper for the first time we present an approach to increasing the directional resolution using a concept which we call vector amplification, that is, increasing the magnitude of pixel vectors close to the direction of the COI. The amplification is reversible, and thus it is possible to implement a filter by parallel/perpendicular resolution coupled with vector amplification; filtering of the image component in the direction parallel to the COI; and combination of the resolved components, coupled with vector attenuation.

A Self-Learning Approach to Edge-Adaptive Demosaicking Algorithm for CFA Images
Most of the current digital cameras will capture only one color at each of the pixel using a single sensor overlaid with a color filter array (CFA).Inorder to recover a full color image from a mosaic pattern, specific methods will be used to restore the two missing color values at each of the pixels in the Bayer pattern. The restoration process to find out the missing color samples is known as c...
متن کاملFast Implementations of Temporal Color Image Filtering
The quality of the displayed image during minimal-invasive operations (endoscopy) may be low due to highlights and water vapor in front of the camera lens. In some cases, image processing like temporal color vector median filtering may enhance the visual quality of the images [8]. In this contribution we present a new technique of ordering, filtering and re-ordering of color image pixels that i...
متن کاملSpatial Gaussian Filtering of Bayer Images with Applications to Color Segmentation
A single sensor color imaging device has a color filter array (CFA) laid on top of its photodiodes, which spatially samples bandpassed spectral responses. Hence, with the popular Bayer pattern, at every pixel site either red, green or blue light is measured. A process known as demosaicing interpolates the vector-valued color image from the scalar-valued sensor output, termed here as the Bayer i...
متن کاملA taxonomy of similarity operators for color image filtering
Processing of color image data using directional information has received increased attention lately due to the introduction of the vector median and vector directional filters. These ranked-order type filters utilize the magnitude and the direction of color vectors to enhance, restore and segment color images. Their only tunable parameters are the size and shape of the sliding window, and the ...

This paper focuses on a noise filtering in color image sequences, where a new class of center-weighted vector directional filters is provided. According to high dimensionality of color image sequences, where besides the spatial frequencies in the frames it is necessary to consider the temporal correlation of an image sequence and the correlation between color channels too, the processing of col...
